Barcode scanners: test the actual work and device

A barcode can speed up a sale or receipt only when it identifies the right product and the application handles the resulting action correctly. Datrylo's current product demonstrations include retail POS and stock workflows, but it does not certify a particular scanner or barcode process. Treat the scanner, browser, label and data as one test.

ImplementationReal POS and stock records are demonstrated. No particular scanner model, connection method or label has been certified by these captures. Test the exact device with unknown, duplicate and damaged labels.

Prepare the product catalogue

Decide which code identifies each item or variant, how supplier codes differ from internal codes and who may correct a mismatch. Include duplicate and unreadable labels in a sample. If serial or lot tracking matters, verify how the identifier is captured and preserved on the transaction.

Test each work point

At the counter, scan a product into a sale, change quantity and process a return. In the warehouse, scan a purchase receipt and an outbound delivery. Observe what happens when an item is unknown or stock differs. Test the exact scanner model, connection method and intended tablet or computer.

Measure the result

Record scan accuracy, error recovery and time taken with realistic data. Do not infer hardware support from a screenshot or a product label. Review a barcode workflow.
