Prepare a manufacturing bill of materials
A bill of materials describes what production expects to consume for a finished product. If units, substitutes or versions are unclear, even a completed production order can produce misleading stock. Plan a bill of materials, create a manufacturing order and record finished stock with Datrylo Manufacturing.
Version a 10-portion bill before using a substitute
Illustrative BOM worksheet, not a posted manufacturing order. Units, acceptable yield and substitution controls require configured validation.
| Record / decision | Filled example and next owner |
|---|---|
| BOM / unit / version | BOM-M01 v1: 10 portions use 2 kg ingredient + 10 packs. Per portion: 0.2 kg and 1 pack. |
| Yield / exception | Actual 9 good + 1 rejected = 90% good yield. Record the rejected portion and consumption reason. |
| Substitution / owner | Production owner approves ingredient B and a new version before the next batch; do not silently edit the historical bill. |
Use this worksheet to organise your requirements, assign owners and plan the next steps.
Build one representative example
Choose a product with several components and a clear output unit. Record component quantities, expected yield, scrap assumptions and who may approve a revision. Check product codes and units against purchasing and inventory. Include an unavailable component or a changed quantity in the test.
Follow actual consumption
Ask the production team when materials are reserved, issued and returned. Decide how actual consumption and finished quantity are recorded and reconciled.
Control changes
Keep an effective version, owner and reason for each approved BOM change. Test an open order when a new revision becomes active. Finance should verify inventory and production costing under the actual accounting policy. Review a representative production order.
