Stock Reservation
Stock reservation sets aside available inventory for a particular demand. It helps a team distinguish physical stock from quantity already promised to another order.
A worked example
A practical example to make the concept clear.
| Step | Illustrative record and result |
|---|---|
| Starting record | On hand: 10 kits. Order A reserves 6; uncommitted stock is 10 − 6 = 4. |
| Change or calculation | Order B requests 5 kits. Under the assumed first-commitment rule, only 4 can be reserved and 1 waits for supply. |
| Meaning and exception | Deliver 3 from A: on hand becomes 7, A retains 3 reserved, B retains 4 reserved, so free stock is 0. Partial delivery does not erase the remaining commitments. |
Why it matters
Test two customer orders competing for limited stock, then cancel or change one. A completed Datrylo delivery is evidence of movement, not proof of every reservation or allocation policy.
Make it practical
