Exchange-Rate Snapshot

An exchange-rate snapshot preserves the rate, direction, source and effective time used for a particular calculation. Keeping it with an accepted document prevents later rate changes from silently rewriting history.

A worked example

A practical example to make the concept clear.

StepIllustrative record and result
Starting recordQuote Q-DEMO-FX on 2 October 2026: source amount 100 USD, target IQD, example rate 1 USD → 1,300 IQD.
Change or calculationStore the rate direction, date and source label “example exercise”; quoted result is 130,000 IQD.
Meaning and exceptionOn 3 October the exercise rate changes to 1,310. A new calculation is 131,000 IQD; Q-DEMO-FX retains its 130,000 snapshot. No live or official rate is represented.

Why it matters

A saved calculation needs its own amount, rate direction, date and source so later changes can be understood. Preserving the commercial calculation is separate from any accounting revaluation or settlement adjustment.
