ERP for multi-company groups
A group may need distinct legal entities, shared staff, common reporting and transfers between companies. Datrylo’s architecture isolates Odoo runtimes and can serve multiple subscribed databases per runtime. A database is its own subscription. That infrastructure fact does not, by itself, prove a full multi-company accounting or consolidated-reporting workflow.
A decision worksheet to reuse
Adapt this buying checklist to your team, priorities and budget.
| Decision field | Worked example and evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Group and people | Example group: Company A is a wholesaler; Company B is a retailer. Sara sells for A; Omar handles B stock; Lina is the approved finance reviewer for both. |
| Access and record ownership | A owns its sales order and receivable; B owns its stock movements and supplier bills. Test Sara’s permitted A quotation and denied B records using her ordinary account. |
| Reporting and consolidation | Keep separate company balances and currencies. A group report needs explicit ownership, translation rules and intercompany elimination; specialist consolidation is separately scoped and must be demonstrated. |
| Database and subscription map | Map which legal entities use each database. Each database has its own subscription; one isolated Odoo runtime can serve several databases. Runtime sharing does not itself prove cross-company permissions or consolidation. |
Draw the boundaries first
List each entity, country, tax registration, chart of accounts, currency, stock owner and approval authority. Decide which records may be shared and which must remain separate. Demonstrate an intercompany sale, correction and reconciliation in the exact application set proposed; validate statutory reports with qualified local advisers.
Ask whether the intended design is one multi-company database or separate databases. Those designs change access, consolidation, migration and commercial scope. Do not assume cross-database transactions are automatic. Discuss architecture and review data handling.
