Your ERP implementation roadmap
A useful implementation starts with the work your team needs to do better. Use this roadmap to organise priorities, prepare data and give people a clear path into the new system.
A stage ends with an owned deliverable
Use this stage map with named owners and actual evidence. Timing and specialist deliverables belong in the separately agreed implementation scope.
| Record / decision | Filled example and next owner |
|---|---|
| 1 · Scope | Business owner: approve one workflow, roles, exception and available/custom/gap decisions. |
| 2 · Data / configuration | Data owner: signed mapping and trial totals. Implementer: settings, role matrix and unresolved custom decisions. |
| 3 · Practice / acceptance | Ordinary users rehearse; business reviewer accepts evidence or assigns correction/retest. No fixed duration without agreed scope. |
Use this worksheet to organise your requirements, assign owners and plan the next steps.
1. Choose the first workflows
List the work that matters most: sales to delivery, purchasing to receipt, production or staff expenses. Name the people responsible and agree what a successful day should look like. Begin with a manageable scope that creates value across teams.
2. Prepare the data
Choose owners for products, customers, suppliers and opening balances. Remove duplicates, align units and account codes, and decide what history needs to move. Import a sample and reconcile it before the full transfer.
3. Configure and rehearse
Set roles, documents and approvals. Run a normal transaction, a correction and an exception with the people who will perform the work. Record decisions while the team can still change the configuration comfortably.
4. Train and launch
Train by task rather than by menu. Agree the cutover window, final data checks, support contacts and recovery responsibilities. Give each team a short guide for its everyday work.
5. Improve after launch
Review open issues and recurring questions, then prioritise improvements. Add custom reports, integrations and workflows where they make the next business step easier. Discuss your implementation.
